Hyundai Gone MADD

Hyundai has been changing a lot over the past five years, and it's not just their cars that Hyundai has been changing. Along with their cars, Hyundai has been completely changing their image. To change the image of Hyundai, Hyundai has been teaming up with local community efforts; Hyundai's most recent team up is with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).

On May 12, 2012, Hyundai presented a $25,000 check to MADD at their annual "Walk Like MADD" ceremony. "Walk Like MADD" is an annual 5K walk that takes place in Huntington Beach, Calif. The walk is to raise awareness of MADD's mission to stop drinking and driving, support victims and prevent underage drinking.

This year's "Walk Like MADD" brought out 1,200 participants and Hyundai had the Hyundai Veloster on display. This is Hyundai's seventh year of working with MADD, and Hyundai supports MADD's goals.

"Drunk driving is a serious issue and Hyundai is committed to raising awareness about driver safety to help make our communities safer," said Zafar Brooks, director of corporate social responsibility, Hyundai Motor America. "Hyundai strives to be a positive corporate citizen and I am honored to continue our relationship with Mothers Against Drunk Driving in support of their important mission."

Hyundai's participation at the "Walk Like MADD" walk event is part of its larger corporate social responsibility program that runs under the mantra of "doing good things together." Hyundai is committed to being a responsible member of the community and giving back to its neighbors while focusing on youth health and education nationwide.

Hyundai Tops EPA

There is no denying the success of Hyundai over the last two years. The South Korean car maker has produced award winning vehicles such as the Veloster and Elantra, and produced some of the most searched for vehicles on the internet with the Genesis and the Santa Fe. Aside from producing some of the top award winning and eye catching cars, with Hyundai's new "fluidic sculpture" designs, Hyundai is also number one in fuel economy and CO2 emissions according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for their 2010 auto fleet.

The EPA recognizes Hyundai as the top brand with highest adjusted fuel economy of 27 miles-per-gallon (MPG) and also has lowest fleet-wide adjusted composite CO2 emissions performance. Producing these kind of numbers has Hyundai beating out the traditional leaders of Honda and Toyota. The EPA predicts that Hyundai will also be the leader with their 2011 fleet as well.

The 2011 EPA Trends Report shows that Hyundai will remain the leader of the highest adjusted fuel economy cars. The report also shows that Hyundai should even move from 2010's 27 MPGs to 27.5 MPGs for their 2011 model year vehicles.

Hyundai has been producing a strong line of vehicles with high fuel efficiency and even four vehicles that give 40 MPGs: Accent, Elantra, Sonata Hybrid and the Veloster. With vehicles like these it would not be surprising to see Hyundai lead the EPA for 2012 as well.

2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Unveil

Back in January of this year we brought you spy shots of the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe, today we bring you an unmasked image of the 2013 Santa Fe. Along with the 2013 Santa Fe, Hyundai has released numerous other teasers and sneak peaks to up coming products. With the teasers and sneak peaks Hyundai is showing that they understand what the rabid internet users crave.

The 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe crossover is set to make it's debut at the New York International Auto Show in April. With the above image we can confirm that Santa Fe is continuing Hyundai's "fluidic sculpture" design, like the Sonata and Elantra, yet Hyundai states that the Santa Fe has a more aggressive "Storm Edge" look. Based on the previous post the 2013 Santa Fe will seat seven and have Hyundai's Blue Link system.

The current 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe offers drivers 20 miles-per-gallon (MPG) in the city and 28 MPG on the highway. Along with the "fluidic sculpture" design "Storm Edge," and addition of Blue Link, we are poised to see performance changes in the new crossover.

Hyundai Elantra Wins Again

The 2012 Hyundai Elantra is the North American Car of the Year, Canadian Car of the Year and has now been awarded the South African Car of the Year

Hyundai has been one of the fastest growing car brands and product brands over the past five years. 2011 and 2012 so far have proven to be very productive and prosperous years for the South Korean carmaker. Especially for the high miles-per-gallon (MPG) compact, 2012 Hyundai Elantra.

The 2012 Hyundai Elantra was named by the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) as the North American "Car or the Year" in Detroit, MI earlier this year, the Canadian "Car of the Year" at the Toronto Auto Show, and has most recently won the South African "Car of the Year." This is the first time Hyundai won the South African "Car of the Year," but is not the first time that it was nominated. The Hyundai Sonata and the Hyundai ix35 were both finalist in 2011, and the i20 was a finalist for the same award in 2010.

Along with being awarded the South African "Car of the Year," the Hyundai Elantra also took home the Best Compact Saloon by South Africa's CAR magazine; and Best Compact Sedan in topCar magazine in their Best Buy edition.

The Hyundai Elantra entails the "fluidic sculpture" design, is a compact car that gets an estimated 40 miles-per-gallon (MPG) during highway driving. Hyundai has also even given the Elantra the new 1.8 liter four cylinder Nu engine, that puts out 148 horsepower and 131 lb-ft of torque. Along with being an economical car, the Elantra is a "green" car. The Elantra will soon be available as a Coupe and as a GT.

Hyundai i-Oniq Concept Revealed

Back in December Hyundai sneaked a peak at it's next step of evolution in it's "fluidic sculpture" design, the Hyundai i-Oniq concept. Hyundai is set to debut the i-Oniq at the Geneva Motor Show this week; however, Hyundai has been in the habit of releasing information before they debut their product.

Along with the attached images of the i-Oniq, Hyundai also stated that the i-Oniq is powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack. Hyundai is saying the i-Oniq will be able to dive 74.56 miles (120 KM) on just the electric motor, and with the use of the gas the i-Oniq will be able to travel 434 miles (700 KM).

There's no word yet if the i-Oniq concept will be brought to life for mass production, or if it will come to the States; but it is still exciting to see the direction Hyundai is heading in with their "fluidic sculpture" design, and the steps they are taking in producing more economically efficient products.
